Our Work
The London Jewish Forum works with councils, City Hall, the NHS and community partners across London. We focus on the decisions that shape daily life for Jewish residents, from community safety and health services to education, housing and civic life.
Our work combines advocacy, partnerships and practical programmes. We bring local experience into policy discussions, support public bodies to understand community needs, and connect decision-makers with organisations delivering services on the ground.
We also lead and support city-wide initiatives, from elections engagement to cultural events and interfaith work. Each area of work is grounded in the same aim: to ensure that Jewish life in London remains safe, supported and visible.
Advocacy & Representation
We represent Jewish Londoners in engagement with councils, the Mayor’s office, MPs, the Metropolitan Police and other public bodies. We focus on how local decisions affect daily life, including community safety, education, housing, planning and social care. Our work includes direct engagement with decision-makers, policy input and borough-level relationship building. We provide practical insight to support better decision-making and stronger outcomes for residents.
London Jewish Health Partnership
The London Jewish Health Partnership brings together NHS bodies, councils and Jewish community organisations. It focuses on improving access to health and social care, including mental health, ageing, and support for vulnerable groups. We work to strengthen coordination between services and community organisations, support culturally competent care, and improve access to prevention and early intervention.
London-wide Networks
We represent the Jewish community in key citywide partnerships such as the London Anchor Institutions’ Network, London Communities Emergencies Partnerships (LCEP), London Resilience and Thrive LDN. By sitting on these forums, we leverage our position to secure practical benefits for Jewish Londoners – from resilience and emergency planning support, to access to cultural, health and wellbeing programmes shaped for our communities. We also bring a strong Jewish and wider faith perspective into these networks and their policymaking work, ensuring that our voice is heard within London's key networks and GLA working groups.
Elections and Hustings
London Jewish Forum leads on the development of a Jewish community manifesto for every local, mayoral and general election in London, Essex and Hertfordshire. Developed in consultation with key communal organisations, these manifestos reflect the day-to-day concerns and priorities of Jewish communities and set out clear, practical policy recommendations tailored to each election.
Chanukah in the Square
Each year the London Jewish Forum, together with partner Jewish organisations and the Mayor of London host Chanukah in the Square, a massive public celebration of the Jewish festival of Chanukah in Trafalgar Square. Chanukah in the Square features live music, entertainment, food and Chanukah themed activities. We regularly have star guests join us on stage together with speeches from the Mayor of London, politicians and community leaders. The highlight of the evening has to be the lighting of the giant Menorah in the heart of Trafalgar Square.
Celebrating Jewish Culture
Celebrating Jewish culture means showcasing Jewish heritage, creativity and contribution as an integral part of London’s story. This includes partnering on cultural festivals, exhibitions, learning programmes and heritage projects which highlight Jewish music, art, literature, food and history. The aim is both to strengthen pride within the Jewish community and to deepen understanding and connection with wider London audiences.
Transport for London
Engagement with Transport for London focuses on making the network safer, more accessible and responsive to Jewish Londoners. This includes advocating for routes like the 310 bus, launched in September 2024 and now extended for longer service times, providing a direct link between Golders Green and Stamford Hill to improve safe, convenient travel for major Jewish neighbourhoods. We also work with TfL to ensure antisemitic graffiti and incidents are dealt with appropriately and rapidly, promote clear reporting routes for antisemitism and hate crime, and help ensure Jewish passengers feel safe and respected on public transport.
Community Cohesion
and Interfaith
Community cohesion and interfaith work is about building strong, practical relationships between Jewish communities and other faith and ethnic groups across London. Activities range from joint events and local roundtables with civic leaders to shared statements and projects which challenge antisemitism and other forms of hatred. The goal is to foster trust, mutual understanding and resilient neighbourhoods that can withstand tension and come together in times of crisis.
